Done Editing

Image
Hey, blog. As said in my last blog, my group has been finishing up editing for our film. We had the goal of embedding our directed-by and Produced title slides to look like it is in the film. Elton has been the main one editing. He started by having the directed by title on the side of Sarah's building in the first shot. Finding out how to embed text was not the hard part. The hard part was finding frames to embed the text, and it look like it is apart of the movie in some way without the camera moving and the text moving with it. It was the sole driver for the places we chose to put the credits. Elton also added sound to the film. You may recall in a previous blog, we contacted Universal Music for permission to use love fools in a song; UMC never got back to us after their first email. Which was obviously a bummer. It would have been cool to use a classic like that in our film. Thankfully we used our backup plan for royalty-free music instead. In order to do so Elton went on yout

Looking at Color Gradients

Hey blog. Since the last time I got back, we have made some changes to the film. We have been editing the film daily, throughout the week. We have done so much to the film so that it will match our ultimate theme of romance. We have decided to add a color gradient to the film to add a warm feeling to the atmosphere. We found that warm colors such as reds, oranges, and yellow add to the atmosphere. I even read online and according to some sources, these colors can evoke feelings of love. That may be the reasoning for why we chose it. We also tried out other colors. Some colors we tried were colors such as blue and purple, but they didn't do the trick like the warm colors did. I will say I am very happy about how Luke filmed our film. Luke filmed the shots very precisely, and is in my opinion his best work so far. I am really happy to see how he has progressed this year. His great film work has made the editing experience more enjoyable. However, Elton has one more thing to do and

Wrapping it Up

Hey blog. our group has finished filming and this is what we have been doing. We have been editing the movie collectively and have been communicating frequently throughout the process. we have finished everything except for the title display. We plan on completing that this week. We still have not gotten word from universal about clearance for our music. If the song does not get cleared I would be disappointed. Luckily we have a backup plan. If we cant get clearance from universal, then we will just pick out a royalty free sound from youtube. We will pick what ever sound we feels fits the best for the film. So far though I am really proud of how it looks so far into production. I am excited to show my peers and my family it when we are finished. I am not rushing this process at all. We have been progressing steadily, and are at the final stretch of this film. In addition to the tittle display and sound clearance, we have worked on the lighting and sound design. Sound Clearance

Gaining authorization to use copyrighted material in our work is one of the most important post-production processes in the creation of this movie. In particular, music is essential for establishing the tone and mood of a movie. We were sure that the new popular song Love Fools by The Cardigans would be the ideal accent to our impending love story. It was difficult to get permission from Universal Music Group (UMG), who owns the song's copyright. We were unsure if we would be able to obtain authorization to use the track because we were aware that UMG has strict licensing guidelines. Unfazed, we emailed UMG with our request and the reasons we thought Love Fools would be the ideal match for our film. To our relief, UMG immediately responded, stating that they were considering our request and would get back to us shortly. Although we were thrilled by the quick answer, we were also aware that this was just the start of what might be a drawn-out process. We started creating backup plan
