Finished Editing!

Image
Hey, blog! As we go deeper into our editing phase we believe we have every problem figured out. We were surprised to discover that, despite meticulous editing to ensure we stayed under budget, we had an amazing 13 minutes of footage left. Reducing it was quite challenging, particularly because there were so many filler clips depicting commonplace activities like brushing one's teeth and hair. Since we were dedicated to achieving our objective, we overcome multiple obstacles to finish the editing process. Every day brought us closer to the finish line, and as time passed, the anticipation grew. Especially due to our upcoming AP and AICE exams for the months of April and May. Slowly but surely we made progress, refining every clip and transition, towards the final cut. Our tiredness was relieved by the gratification of watching all our work turn into a great film.  When selecting the best photos, we made sure that each frame contributed significantly to the narrative. As the editing

Editing Ideas: C.L.A.M.P.S.

Image
Hey, blog!  Throughout the 5-minute video, our decisions are guided by the concepts of mise en scène and C.L.A.M.P.S. media vocabulary. By positioning actors, establishing the mood, and positioning accessories, mise en scène enables us to create scenes and make sure every shot tells our story. Camera angles, lighting, audio, performance, and special effects are examples of C.L.A.M.P.S. media concepts that improve our editing process and give our photographs more depth and meaning. Our film develops with each edit, each shot thoughtfully chosen to tell a coherent and compelling tale. Set design, lighting, and costumes create the right tone and evoke feelings in the audience. By putting the audience at the center of the action, movement and camera angles enhance the story. As the editing process ends, excitement grows. Our efforts are rewarded as the film comes together flawlessly. It just needs a few finishing touches , like sound effects and titles, to elevate our work to the ne

Continuing Editing

Hey, blog! After weeks of intense work, my group and I are happy to present the finished product of our final video project. The outcome is far better than we had anticipated , demonstrating the value of our persistence. This time, unlike the first time, everything went together without any problems. We skillfully and confidently guided the filming process with a clear vision and strong direction. We simplified the way we filmed, using a well-organized strategy to direct our efforts. This allowed us to concentrate just on getting real and emotionally impactful shots.   Even though we were filming in the same park, we took a "less is more" approach, giving priority to the scenes necessary to tell our tale. The days of shooting a ton of film and taking extra takes are long gone; instead, we now adopt a more deliberate and direct approach. After filming was complete, we felt a wave of achievement since we knew every shot we took helped make our project a success. We are no

Editing Mess-up: Vertical vs. Horizontal

Image
Hey, blog!  Film-making requires exacting attention to detail and a combination of technical skill and imagination. Our group recently had a setback in our endeavor to create a five-minute video, which taught us important lessons about how important it is to follow good film-making practices. Our error? filming in a vertical rather than a horizontal orientation—a seemingly insignificant mistake with serious consequences . We went into production with a strong screenplay and a distinct concept, initially full of energy. However, we discovered our camera misalignment throughout the editing process.   The vertical footage that is frequently seen in informal smartphone recordings presented difficulties for our career goals. It confused scenes and broke the flow of the story. The sudden changes in frames created the illusion of an incomplete rather than well-executed piece of work. We weren't happy with the result because the choppiness didn't go away even after we tried to fix

Starting the Editing Process

Image
Hey, blog! It is a new week and we are moving from documenting moments to honing them into a coherent story as we begin the editing portion of our film project. Excitement and relief are mixed together in perfect harmony as we begin the process of turning unpolished video into a polished cinematic production. Our team member Elton has painstakingly captured every sight on his reliable phone, paying close attention to every little detail to make sure nothing is overlooked. Equipped with resolute purpose and a well-defined objective , we assemble in class, prepared to dive into the thrilling world of editing. We quickly learn that editing is a creative choreography of decisions, from layering in the ideal sound effects to fine-tuning cuts. Every choice we make has a significant impact on how the narrative develops and how our shared vision is realized on screen. We go deeply into the field of sound design, picking out diegetic noises with care to thoroughly engross our viewers in th

Finished with Filming...Sort of

Hey, blog! At last, Saturday came, the day we turned our dreams of becoming a movie into a reality. However, we changed the gas station in our storyboard to a park at the last minute, which added a thrilling twist to our story line. It was a smart move to switch up the scene as it made it easier to portray the suspense of the main character being hunted down and kidnapped amid the serene settings of nature. Not having to worry about time or spectators allowed us to film in the park in various situations and viewpoints. Unlike the bustling atmosphere of a gasoline station, the park provided a calm environment that let us focus entirely on our work without any distractions.   Because of the adjustment, we were also able to retake multiple sequences, ensuring that each one was perfect. An unexpected encounter during the kidnapping scenario led to a humorous situation. An elderly couple approached Sarah with worry, wanting to know how she was doing. Their kindness reminded me of the magic

Our Filming Journey Begins!

Image
Hey, blog! I am extremely excited for the weekend coming up. This week our group has been ensuring that our filming plans would work this weekend. Our day of filming has been agreed to be on Saturday. Today I have been working on making sure everyone is going to be free for that film day. I do not want another round of not filming like last weekend. Unfortunately, I do have work on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM but we do have a plan around this. Elton is going to drive to Sarah's at 5:00 PM when I get off, and I will meet them there after work. While I am driving to Sarah's house, Elton will be able to film most of the start of the video due to the fact that I am not in those scenes. Once I get to the house, we can all start filming the car scenes and head to the park for the final parts. I checked the weather for that night and it is a perfect cold and damp atmosphere to film a thriller. We expect to finish filming by 8:00 PM, or around that time. After we finish I am

Our Weekend Filming Delay

Image
Hey blog! The first week of the month has passed and no filming has been completed. My group had plans to film this weekend but those fell through due to our members overlaying schedules. One of our members, Sarah, had to go on a trip out of town this weekend. This was a major factor to us not shooting this weekend due to the fact that Sarah is the main actress. My group mate Elon and I were extremely disappointed that we could not get the filming done this weekend but, what could we really do? Despite our set back, our group remained focused on our goal to film. Over the weekend, Elton and I spent several hours planning out and rehearsing so that we will be all good to film when Sarah gets back. This hiccup in our process has tested the groups patience and commitment to filming and has been a great learning experience. Instead of complaining about Sarah being gone, we stayed focused and did fall apart. We just have to be patient now. Next weekend, we will regroup and put our minds tog
