Title Research: Love, Simon

Hey there, I used the movie title "Love, Simon" as it follows the romantic theme of our movie idea. When researching the movie title, I came across the website www.artofthetitle.com, I used this website because it was easy to navigate and find my research.

1. What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?

Titles displayed during the opening sequences were a heart symbol which described the theme of the overall movie. This helped show love and acceptance specifically for people struggling to understand their selves and how they identify as sexually. Opening credits are also shown in a visually appealing way to keep the audience attracted and to actually read the credits. This by using a colorful background to keep the audience's eyes hooked onto the screen. The opening credits are mostly there to aid in setting a tone for the move and grab the audience's attention from the start.

2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?

Images prioritized in the opening sequence were different shots of regular high school activities that you may see happen everyday. This includes walking through the hallways, talking to friends, participating in extracurricular activities, etc.

3. What connotation do these images carry?

The connotations these images are displaying are youth energy and the everyday experience of a high school student. It is making the audience either feel relatable, or feel like they are in high school all over again and living the experience for another time in their life.

The film establishes a feeling of genre from the outset by showing a very familiar setting to just about all viewers of the movie. The setting is of a high school and it is a setup story, coming of age, with different themes displayed. These themes include but are not limited to identity, young love, and self-discovery.

Strategies used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience of teens is by making the movie relatable, and the characters live just as relatable. this helps the audience feel more at home in a sense when watching this movie since struggles are openly talked about. Some things talked about were coming out, working on relationships, and finding your exact place in the world/where you belong.

6. How has technology been used effectively? You want to consider camera angles, transitions and editing techniques.

technology has been used effectively with camera angles, transitions, and editing techniques in several ways. Lots of different creative camera angles were used such as close-ups and many establishing shots. This either means the camera was really close to the person, or that the director is trying to show where the characters would be residing inf for the time being.  A lot of jump cuts were also used in order to bring excitement into different situations in the movie, whether it was for happy or for sad moments.
